🧼 Cynarina Coral Care Guide
About Cynarina lacrymalis
Often referred to as Cat’s Eye Coral or simply Cynaria, this large polyp stony (LPS) coral is prized for its jelly-like appearance and vibrant hues. It has a single, large central mouth and inflates significantly under the right conditions. While visually dramatic, it’s generally peaceful and moderately easy to care for with the proper environment.

🌍 Origin
Native to sandy reef slopes and rubble zones of the Indo-Pacific, often found partially buried in substrate.

💡 Lighting Requirements
Cynarina prefers low to moderate lighting. Too much intensity can cause tissue retraction or bleaching. Start in a shaded area and acclimate slowly.

Low Light: 30–60 PAR
Medium Light: 60–100 PAR
Avoid placing under direct LEDs without diffusion.

🌊 Water Flow
Low, indirect flow is best. High flow may damage its soft tissue or prevent full inflation. A calm zone will allow it to expand fully and show off its mesmerizing translucency.

🍽️ Feeding
Cynarina benefits from regular target feeding. Offer small meaty foods like mysis shrimp, reef roids, or enriched brine shrimp 1–2 times per week to support health, growth, and coloration.

🌱 Propagation
Fragging Cynarina is possible but challenging and not commonly done due to its single-polyp structure. Best left to expert hobbyists or professional aquaculture facilities.

🔄 Acclimation
Acclimate carefully using a drip method over 45–60 minutes. Place on the sandbed or a stable, low-flow surface where it won’t be irritated by neighboring corals or high water movement.

⚠️ Placement Tip: This coral can inflate significantly—leave room around it to avoid contact with stinging corals or rockwork. Ideal for display tanks or low-competition LPS zones.
