About Ricordea Mushroom
Originating from the Indo-Pacific region, Ricordea yuma is a unique species of corallimorph with a textured surface covered in small, bubble-like tentacles. These mushrooms are known for their bold colors and exotic look. However, they can be a bit temperamental, so we recommend them for hobbyists with some reef-keeping experience.
These corals are commonly found throughout the vibrant reefs of the Indo-Pacific.
Ricordea yuma tends to thrive under more intense lighting compared to its Caribbean counterparts. Aim to place them in areas of moderate to high light in your tank setup.
Low Light: 30–50 PAR
Medium Light: 50–150 PAR
High Light: 150+ PAR

Yuma mushrooms prefer a calm environment. Place them in low-flow areas of your reef tank to avoid stress. Excessive flow can cause them to retract or even get dislodged and move around the tank.
While Ricordea mushrooms rely mostly on their symbiotic zooxanthellae for energy, they also appreciate occasional feedings. Offer them tiny bits of food—like mysis or other fine meaty options—for added nutrition and better growth.
These mushrooms are great candidates for aquaculture. They’ve been successfully propagated in captivity, and with time and care, they can form part of a sustainable reef-keeping practice.
Because shipping can stress marine animals, proper acclimation is crucial. Please follow our Acclimation Guide to give your Ricordea the smoothest transition into its new home.
