About Blastomussa wellsi
Blastomussa is a stunning large polyp stony coral, known for its soft, inflated polyps and easygoing nature. It grows in a dome-like cluster, resembling mini anemones, and stays relatively compact—perfect for nano tanks or filling color gaps in larger setups. A great choice for beginners and experienced reefers alike.

🌍 Origin
Naturally found in the Indo-Pacific, often in deeper, lower-light reef zones. This piece has been aquacultured for enhanced coloration and long-term tank performance.

💡 Lighting Requirements
Thrives in low to moderate lighting. Higher light may cause color shift or polyp retraction, so avoid placing it under intense LEDs without shade or diffusion.

Low Light: 30–60 PAR
Medium Light: 60–100 PAR
Ideal placement: mid-to-low tank zones, on rocks or substrate with room to expand.

🌊 Water Flow
Low to moderate flow is best. Gentle movement helps keep the coral clean while allowing its polyps to remain fully inflated and open.

🍽️ Feeding
While Blastomussa is photosynthetic, it will eagerly accept occasional feedings of mysis, brine shrimp, or reef roids. Feed 1–2 times a week to support growth and vivid coloration.

🌱 Propagation
Blastomussa can be fragged once colonies form multiple heads. Each head can grow into a new polyp with proper care and healing time.

🔄 Acclimation
Standard slow drip acclimation (30–45 minutes) is recommended. Like all LPS, it prefers stability—avoid sudden parameter swings for best health.

⚠️ Placement Tip:
Blastomussa is peaceful and won’t send out stinging tentacles, making it a great neighbor for other corals. Still, leave a bit of room to allow full inflation and growth.
