🧼 Cat Eye Bubble Coral Care Guide
About Plerogyra sinuosa
The Cat Eye Bubble Coral is a variety of bubble coral known for its oversized, fluid-like bubbles that resemble translucent marbles with faint stripes—like a cat’s eye. A peaceful and hardy LPS coral, it’s a favorite for beginners and seasoned reefers alike.

🌍 Origin
Found in the calm lagoon zones and reef slopes of the Indo-Pacific, particularly in sheltered, low-light areas.

💡 Lighting Requirements
Prefers lower to moderate light levels. Too much light can cause the bubbles to deflate and stress the coral. Avoid direct exposure to high-intensity LEDs or metal halides.

Low Light: 30–70 PAR
Medium Light: 70–100 PAR
Place in shaded or lower zones of the tank with slow acclimation if upgrading lighting.

🌊 Water Flow
Low to moderate, indirect flow is ideal. The vesicles (bubbles) are delicate and can be torn by strong currents. A calm zone will help it inflate fully and show off its unique texture.

🍽️ Feeding
Although it contains photosynthetic zooxanthellae, the Cat Eye Bubble Coral thrives with weekly feedings of small meaty foods—mysis, brine shrimp, or reef-specific blends. Target feeding helps growth and polyp extension.

🌱 Propagation
Can be fragged by experienced aquarists, although it has a hard skeleton and delicate tissue. Proper healing and coral dips are essential after fragging.

🔄 Acclimation
Use a slow drip method to match salinity and temperature. Bubble corals are sensitive to sudden changes and physical damage—handle with care during placement.

⚠️ Placement Tip: Keep a buffer zone! Bubble corals have long sweeper tentacles that can extend several inches at night, so give them space to avoid stinging nearby corals.
