🧼 Daisy Coral Care Guide
About Knopia / Clavularia spp.
Commonly referred to as Daisy Coral, this fast-growing soft coral resembles tiny daisies blooming across your rockwork. Unlike hard corals, it lacks a calcium skeleton, making it more flexible and forgiving—an excellent choice for beginner to intermediate hobbyists. Some variants may be labeled under Clavularia due to close visual similarities.
🌍 Origin
Naturally found in shallow reef flats and lagoons across the Indo-Pacific region.
đź’ˇ Lighting Requirements
Daisy Coral thrives under moderate lighting, though it’s quite adaptable. It glows beautifully under blues and doesn’t require intense PAR levels.
Low Light: 30–70 PAR
Medium Light: 70–120 PAR
Great for mid to lower areas of the tank or to fill shadowed nooks.
🌊 Water Flow
Moderate, random flow is ideal. Enough to keep detritus from settling while allowing polyps to sway gently. Too much flow can cause retraction, while too little may invite algae buildup.
🍽️ Feeding
Photosynthetic and low-maintenance, Daisy Coral doesn’t require feeding, but it may benefit from occasional broadcast feeding with phytoplankton or amino acid blends for improved coloration and polyp extension.
🌱 Propagation
Extremely easy to frag! Daisy Coral spreads via encrusting mat-like tissue and can be gently cut or peeled from rock to create new colonies.
🔄 Acclimation
As with all corals, acclimate slowly using a drip method over 30–45 minutes. Place it in a low-light area initially, then move as needed based on response.
⚠️ Pro Tip: Daisy Coral grows quickly! It can overtake neighboring corals if not pruned or managed, so keep it in its own zone or on an isolated rock island.
