🧼 Goniopora Coral Care Guide
About Goniopora
Also known as “Flowerpot Coral,” Goniopora is a mesmerizing large polyp stony (LPS) coral. It’s beloved for its long, flowing tentacles and daisy-like appearance. While stunning, it’s slightly more demanding than other LPS corals, making it best suited for reefers with intermediate experience.

🌍 Origin
Native to shallow reef lagoons and turbid waters across the Indo-Pacific and Red Sea.

💡 Lighting Requirements
Goniopora prefers moderate lighting, mimicking the scattered sunlight of its natural habitat. Overexposure can stress it, while too little light may inhibit growth.

Low Light: 30–80 PAR
Medium Light: 80–150 PAR
Avoid placing under intense direct light without proper acclimation.

🌊 Water Flow
A gentle, indirect flow is ideal. The tentacles should sway freely without being blasted. Too much flow may cause the polyps to stay retracted, reducing their feeding and overall health.

🍽️ Feeding
Although it hosts zooxanthellae, supplemental feeding is highly encouraged. Feed it small particle foods like reef roids, phytoplankton, or finely chopped meaty foods 2–3 times a week for best results and long-term health.

🌱 Propagation
Goniopora can be fragged, but it requires careful handling due to its skeletal structure and sensitivity. Most propagation is done by experienced reefers or aquaculture professionals.

🔄 Acclimation
Goniopora is particularly sensitive to sudden changes. We strongly recommend following our Acclimation Guide to ensure a stress-free introduction to your reef environment.
