🧼 Ricordea Yuma Care Guide
About Ricordea yuma
Ricordea yuma is a unique corallimorph that combines the color of zoanthids with the texture of mushrooms. Known for its bubble-like tentacles and exotic appearance, this soft coral doesn’t have a stony skeleton, making it flexible and easy to place. Yumas can be sensitive at first, but once established, they’re hardy, long-lasting, and fast-growing.

🌍 Origin
Aquacultured from Indo-Pacific strains, selectively grown for vivid, stable pigmentation and improved tank adaptability.

πŸ’‘ Lighting Requirements
Thrives under moderate to high light. Blues and actinics enhance its fluorescent tones dramatically.

Low Light: 40–60 PAR
Medium Light: 60–120 PAR
High Light: 120–150+ PAR (with slow acclimation)

🌊 Water Flow
Low to moderate flow. Too much flow can cause detachment or prevent full polyp inflation. A gentle, indirect current is ideal for maximum expansion and movement.

🍽️ Feeding
Photosynthetic but will accept micro-feedings. Occasional spot feeding with reef roids, powdered coral foods, or phytoplankton can promote faster growth and brighter colors.

🌱 Propagation
Easy to propagate once settled. Ricordea can split naturally or be fragged manually by experienced reefers. Always use coral-safe dips post-frag to prevent infection.

πŸ”„ Acclimation
Drip acclimate for 30–45 minutes. Avoid handling the oral disk directly, as Yuma tissue is delicate and prone to stress during transfer.

⚠️ Placement Tip:
Place on rubble rock, frag tiles, or isolated spots in the sand to control spread. Avoid aggressive corals nearby, though Ricordea itself is non-aggressive.

🌈 Why It’s Special:
The Neon Raspberry Blast morph combines hot pinks, neon oranges, and electric greens in a glowing, gem-like package. It’s a rare color combo and an absolute must-have for collectors who want serious pop under blues.
