The Open Brain Coral is a large polyp stony (LPS) coral with a single, fleshy polyp over a skeletal base. Known for its undulating surface and vibrant coloration, it’s a peaceful coral that does best when given space to fully expand on a soft substrate. Suitable for both beginner and experienced reefers.

🌍 Origin
Native to the Indo-Pacific, commonly found in shallow lagoons and sandy reef slopes. Most modern specimens are aquacultured.

💡 Lighting Requirements
Thrives in low to moderate light. High-intensity lighting may cause fading or stress. Under blue LEDs, this coral often fluoresces brightly.

Low Light: 30–60 PAR
Medium Light: 60–100 PAR
Ideal placement: bottom third of the tank, preferably on the sandbed.

🌊 Water Flow
Low to moderate, indirect flow is ideal. This keeps the coral clean without irritating its fleshy tissue. Avoid direct jets or turbulent areas.

🍽️ Feeding
Though it photosynthesizes, the Open Brain Coral appreciates target feeding 2–3 times per week. Use mysis, finely chopped seafood, or LPS-specific foods for best results.
