🧼 Cynarina Coral Care Guide
About Cynarina lacrymalis
Cynarina, also known as Cat’s Eye Coral, is a large polyp stony (LPS) coral loved for its massive fleshy body and transparent, bubble-like tissue. The Ultra grade represents the highest level of coloration and rarity—featuring exceptional contrast, clarity, and depth. It’s peaceful, easy to care for, and a magnet for attention in reef displays.
🌍 Origin
Indo-Pacific origin, with this Ultra Grade piece sustainably aquacultured under controlled conditions.
💡 Lighting Requirements
Low to moderate lighting is best to prevent bleaching and preserve the coral’s vibrant hues.
Low Light: 30–60 PAR
Medium Light: 60–90 PAR
Best placed in shaded sandbed zones or lower rockwork.
🌊 Water Flow
Low, indirect flow is ideal. Gentle current allows full expansion while preventing debris from settling in folds. Avoid strong, direct jets.
🍽️ Feeding
While photosynthetic, Cynarina thrives with 2–3 targeted feedings per week. Offer mysis, reef roids, LPS pellets, or finely chopped seafood when feeder tentacles are visible (usually at night or during lights-off periods).
🌱 Propagation
Not frag-friendly. Cynarina is a single-polyp coral and must be propagated by expert aquaculture facilities. Each specimen is unique and irreplaceable.
🔄 Acclimation
Use a slow drip acclimation (45–60 minutes) to avoid shock. Keep calcium (400–450 ppm), alkalinity (8–10 dKH), and magnesium (1300–1400 ppm) stable for long-term success.
⚠️ Placement Tip:
Place on a flat, soft sandbed away from aggressive neighbors or jagged rocks. This coral expands significantly and needs space to avoid injury.
🌈 Why It’s Ultra:
