🧼 Acanthophyllia Coral Care Guide
About Acanthophyllia deshayesiana
Also known as the Donut Coral or Meat Coral, Acanthophyllia is a premium single-polyp LPS coral known for its massive size, peaceful nature, and vivid coloration. Its slow growth and rarity make it a prized coral for show tanks and serious collectors.

🌍 Origin
Sustainably aquacultured from Indo-Pacific stock. This gold-mouth variant is highly sought after and uncommon in the wild trade.

💡 Lighting Requirements
Low to moderate light is best. Too much light can stress or bleach the coral. Place in a shaded sandbed zone and acclimate slowly if moving to brighter areas.

Low Light: 30–60 PAR
Medium Light: 60–100 PAR
Avoid intense direct LED or halide exposure.

🌊 Water Flow
Low, gentle flow is ideal. The coral’s soft, fleshy tissue expands best in calm conditions. Avoid strong currents that can lead to retraction or damage.

🍽️ Feeding
Acanthophyllia will extend feeder tentacles primarily at night. Target-feed 2–3 times per week with chunky meaty foods (mysis, krill, clam, reef blend) to promote fullness, coloration, and long-term health.

🌱 Propagation
Not frag-friendly. Being a single-polyp species, it can only be propagated through specialized aquaculture methods. Each one is truly one of a kind.

🔄 Acclimation
Use a slow 60-minute drip acclimation. This coral is sensitive to sudden changes in salinity, pH, or temperature—stable parameters are crucial.

⚠️ Placement Tip:
Place on a soft sandbed, away from rough rock edges or aggressive corals. It inflates significantly and needs space to prevent damage or crowding.

🌟 Why It’s Special:
